Hello Everyone,
For this week’s blog, I will tell you what I believe to be my “perceived” wellbeing in three of our topical “mind-body-spirit” discourses.
I feel that physically, I am probably in the best shape of my life. I would rate myself as at an 8. I exercise everyday doing cardio and yoga or strength. I have good endurance and am not overweight. I think that a goal for me physically, would have to be to practice yoga more often and try to improve my concentration and breathing.
My spiritual wellbeing is a fairly new discovery. In the fact that only about a year ago did I commit to becoming more aware and observant of the higher power in my life. I have joined a fellowship group where I participate weekly. I feel that my spiritual wellbeing is about average, or below average, compared to many people’s devotion. One thing I want to do to improve my spirituality is to read “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren.
My psychological wellbeing has always been a struggle for me. This has been an issue and detriment to my wellbeing. I have to say that I would rate my psychological wellbeing as a “work in progress” or a 5. I would say my goal is to be a better person and a way for me to do that is to continue my studies. By doing this, I believe that I will garner knowledge to improve my person.
Take care,
Karin
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteYour goals for yoga sound similar to mine. I have made a commitment to practice yoga every day for at least 15 minutes. Yoga journal online is a great resource for your yoga practice. They even have podcasts you can put on your ipod or mp3 so you can take it with you. I think yoga is a great idea for everyone and with so many different types now, I think everyone can find something that suits them. I find that when I really pay attention to my breathing with the movements, I am more connected to everything about myself. I hope that makes sense.
I believe spiritual practices never end. These types of journeys are a continuous journey with different branches along the way. Reading and educating ourselves is great but we also need to put those thoughts into practice. That's where difficulties come into play.
I love that you have made a commitment to improving yourself. That's the first step. One thing we have to remind ourselves and the ones we teach is to always go forward. I find once I get close to a goal, other paths open up, allowing more knowledge to take advantage of.
Thank you for sharing yourself with us!
Be well!
Hi Ellen,
ReplyDeleteYou make some really good points about going forward. I have found so many things opened up to me once I began practicing yoga. I started school again, I began a spiritual journey, and I found pain relief for my scoliosis! What a gift!
Take care
Hello Karin. I am amazed that you exercise every day. That is great. Some people think they do not have time, but time can be made if they make it a priority. I was going to take the day off today, but it is not so cold anymore. I am going for a 30 minute run today. I will also go to the local library for the book you recommended. Thanks
ReplyDeleteKarin,
ReplyDeleteSome would say that as your spiritual well being improves, so will your psychological. I am not sure how you percieve that, but I have seen some truth to that. When I fall on the wayside of my church attendance, I feel less fit psychologically, and find I have a harder time dealing with everyday stresses.

I think many of us are not doing as well either in psychological well being. I think this is where it all have to begin for us to balance out everything else. It's amazing that you made it this far or for any of us to make it this far. I guess psychologically we are all in balance one way or the other.
